"Decoration Day"

Did you know Memorial Day is also known as Decoration Day?

Although there are many conflicting stories on it's beginnings, most can agree that it began as a day set aside to honor the soldiers who had fallen in service during the civil war. On May 5, 1868, General John A. Logan issued a proclamation calling for "Decoration Day" to be observed annually and nationwide. The first Northern Memorial Day was observed on May 30th, that year. Which according to the White House was chosen as the optimal date for flowers to bloom in the North.

With Civil War battlefields surrounding us; We are blessed to be located in the midst of all this history! Spend time with Family & Friends this Decoration Day and remember to honor all of those who committed the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

We wish you all a safe and fulfilling Memorial Day Weekend!
